• Food industry: manufacture of baked goods, as a leavening agent, flavoring agent, fermentation aid, nutritional supplement, yeast food.
• Also used as a buffer, a chelating agent.
• Fertilizer: flavoring, brewing yeast culture, used to prepare buffer solution; fertilization of rice, wheat, cotton, rape, tobacco, sugar cane, apple and other crops.
• Used as a chromatographic reagent and buffer, also used in the synthesis of medicine.
•  It is used as a high-efficiency phosphorus and potassium covering fertilizer, suitable for various soils and crops.
•  It is also used as a bacterial culture medium, a flavoring agent for synthetic sake, and a raw material for potassium metaphosphate. In medicine, it is used to acidify urine and as a nutritional supplement.
•  Used as feed nutritional supplement.
•  As a quality improver, it increases the complexation of metal ions in foods, pH, and ionic strength, thereby improving their binding and water retention. China stipulates that it can be used in wheat flour at a maximum dosage of 5.0g/kg; in beverages, the maximum dosage is 2.0g/kg.
